How Often Do We See Whales?
On our tours to the Skjervøy region, we see whales on nearly every expedition. The difference from day to day lies in the number of whales, the species we encounter (humpbacks, orcas, or sperm whales), and their level of activity.
What is the Best Month to See Whales in Tromsø?
Statistically, the peak season for whale watching in Tromsø is from November to early January. During this window, the whales are consistently feeding in the area. However, the season has been starting earlier, with sightings in early October (e.g., 2nd Oct 2025). We operate daily from 09 October 2025 to 31 January 2026.
Is Whale Watching Ethical?
We believe it must be. Whales face threats from climate change, pollution, and noise. Our responsible whale watching philosophy is built on minimal disturbance:
- Silent Operation: Our hybrid-electric engine drastically reduces underwater noise.
- Respectful Viewing: We follow strict guidelines to avoid interrupting natural behaviors.
What About Sea Sickness?
While our vessel is stable and we navigate sheltered waters where possible, seasickness can occur. Our tips to prevent it:
- Eat a light breakfast.
- Consume ginger drinks (like our onboard ginger beer).
- Stay on the lower deck near the back, with a view of the horizon.
- Take seasickness medication beforehand if you are prone to it.
